Regional Planning Meeting in Sanford
Date: 6/23
Time: 6 p.m.
Location: Dennis Wicker Convention Center
| Information: The BRAC Regional Task Force will convene its partners, stakeholders, and other interested parties and citizens to discuss a regional proposal submittal for a federal Sustainable Communities Planning Grant.
The meeting will be held at 6 p.m. on June 23 at the Dennis A. Wicker Civic Center, located at 1801 Nash Street in Sanford (www.dawcc.com).
The BRAC RTF intends to submit a proposal to the Sustainable Communities Program and coordinate a multi-jurisdictional, cross-disciplinary submittal that builds upon the region’s accomplishments in response to BRAC growth. The purpose of the meeting is to develop a framework and establish a steering committee for proposal development.
The new, federal Sustainable Communities Partnership, consisting of the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), and Department of Transportation (DOT) will soon release a Notice of Funding Availability (NOFA) for the Sustainable Communities Program Planning Grant. The Partnership, through HUD, has $100 million available for the development of regional sustainable development plans.
“Given our work-to-date in workforce development, education, and regional planning, we believe we can present a compelling proposal to fund a plan for the Fort Bragg Region. This is an exciting opportunity to build upon our accomplishments to date, and to obtain funding to take the planning priorities of our counties, municipalities, and citizenry to the next level” said Donald Belk, BRAC RTF Regional Planner.
All BRAC RTF member counties, partners, regional stakeholders, and interested citizens are invited to attend. Because space is limited, everyone interested in attending should RSVP by 5 p.m. June 16 at www.bracrtf.com. For more information, please contact Donald Belk at dbelk@bracrtf.com or (910) 808-4176.
